This local favorite has been around for over 20 years. Wally’s Drive-in is the perfect stop for burgers and hand dipped shakes. Try the infamous Waltimate, a three-quarter-pound behemoth beef patty, topped with beef patty, bacon, Swiss and American cheese, grilled ham, grilled onions, tomato, and other standard toppings.
 

The Main Street Bistro

The Main Street Bistro is located in the heart of historic downtown Buckley and is such a fun place to dine. Pub style menu with flatbreads, salads, and hot grinder sandwiches. The family-owned business is kid friendly with pool and table games. There is also an expresso bar and a gift shop with handmade gifts.
 

Anchor House Coffee Roasters

Chandeliers in a coffee shop? Surprising but Anchor House Coffee Roasters is not your typical coffee shop. In addition to fabulous in house roasted coffee in a welcoming environment the company works to end human trafficking. The company donates 10% of their monthly revenue to Love Justice International and sells their products. They also sponsored the first Run to End Slavery held in Buckley.
 

The Scoop on Main Street

The Scoop on Main Street is a delight from the moment you walk in the door. Bright, festive colors and a retro vibe are such fun. Their motto is “Ice Cream solves everything” and it is so believable in this cheerful place. They serve ice cream and a variety of hot items such as hot dogs. The shop also has inexpensive toys and retro candy.

 

Where To Stay In Buckley

The Buckley Inn is a cute local hotel within walking distance of the historic district. Lodging is also available at the Econo Lodge, a Choice hotel. For quirky, outside the box lodging check out the Soul Yurt offered through Airbnb. Tiny Home lovers will enjoy Breakfast at Tiffany’s Tiny Home on the Farm also offered through Airbnb. It is on a farm, but the owners manufacture tiny homes at the site as well.

 

What To Do In Buckley

There is a lifetime of sights to see and things to do in Buckley. You’ll find plenty of parking in the historic district and can explore it on foot. Venture to area trails to explore the scenic outdoors surrounding Buckley.
 

Foothills Historical Museum

Visit the Foothills Historical Museum to learn about the history of Buckley and northeast Pierce County. The museum highlights the railroad, logging, and mining industries in galleries with interpretive displays. Across the street explore historical buildings and equipment including a fire lookout tower and a steam donkey. Visitor information and maps are also available.
 

Hiking

The  Foothills National Recreation Trail is a 21-mile trail that was once a historic railroad bed. It begins in Puyallup and terminates at the White River in Buckley. The asphalt trail is perfect for bicycles and hikers. Scenic sections have unobstructed views of Mt. Rainier and follow the Carbon River through farmland and forest. Eventually the trail will continue from Buckley to Enumclaw. The Pinnacle Peak Trail is steep with 1,049-foot elevation gain but worth it for the views. The Skookum Flats Trail is a well-maintained, relatively flat trail which runs alongside the White River.

 

Events

The Buckley Log Show is an annual event that takes place each year at the end of June. The event is a two-day logging competition with a parade down Main St. The Buckley Downtown Association hosts a variety of events throughout the year including a holiday market and car shows.
