There's a lot going on, so I was hard pressed to narrow it down to my top five. 1.  Tacoma Wined Up
Saturday, Jun. 10th

The first annual Tacoma Wined Up kicks off this Saturday! Hosted and organized by the Broadway Center for the Performing Arts, this is your chance to sip and sample over 20 Northwest wineries while enjoying live music and delicious food pairings. Bonus: the event is indoors at the intriguingly designed Tacoma Armory, so if the weather goes south you'll stay nice and dry inside this castle-like venue. 
 
 
2. Free Fishing Weekend

This is a great weekend to enjoy fishing and boating in the South Puget Sound. Saturday, June 10 is National Marina day, and both Saturday and Sunday are part of the Washington State free fishing weekend - which means no license is required to fish, or gather shellfish in any waters open to fishing. To celebrate, the Point Defiance Marina is offering fishing and boating tutorials throughout the day, every hour on the hour. You'll learn about knot tying, safe boating practices, and rig tying.
 
 
3. The Pirates of Penzance
Friday, Jun. 9th - Sunday, Jun. 11th
Lakewood Playhouse, Lakewood
Time: Friday and Saturday at 8:00 PM, Sunday at 2:00 PM
Cost: $30 Adult, $28 Military, $27 Senior, $25 Student/Educator
 
Get lost in the story of Frederic, an orphan who mistakenly gets swept up with a raucously affectionate band of pirates. Last performed at Lakewood Playhouse in 2006, this musical production written by Gilbert and Sullivan, is a classic, and you'll probably find yourself humming along with several of the show tunes.
 
 
4. Shark Attack!

Museum of Glass, Tacoma

Family day at the Museum of Glass means world class glass art paired with sea life touch tanks! Kiddos are encouraged to get up close and personal with sea critters in touch tanks provided by the MaST Center Aquarium, followed by take home shark crafts from created from clothespins.

Escape from civilization without having to travel far at all - this family friendly paddle is hosted by the Tacoma Nature Center, and will take you from the quaint seaside town of Steilacoom to Ketron Island. Keep your eyes peeled as you glide over the water, you might just see some friendly harbor seals, or other aquatic creatures!
