Today is opening day for The Hub at Gig Harbor, one of three notable restaurants opening in Gig Harbor between now and the end of the year.
Business partners Pat Nagle and Carole Holder have imported to Gig Harbor their Hub concept from Tacomas St. Helens neighborhood. That bike-themed restaurant offers pizza, sandwiches and burgers in a casual, sprawling space that sports a dining room friendly to group seating and an open-air bar with roll-up garage doors.
The Hub and Harmon are all part of the same family of restaurants-slash-pubs founded in 1997 by Nagle, a Tacoma native. That year, the Foss High School graduate opened his brewery and restaurant in downtown Tacoma. More than a decade later, he opened the Hub restaurant in 2008 with business partner Carole Holder. And 2010 saw the opening of neighboring working brewery and restaurant, the Harmon Taproom. As the restaurant side of the business has grown, so has Harmon beer production. In recent years, Harmon has begun distributing its beers to stores across the Northwest.
