About Lino Tagaliapietra:
Widely revered as the maestro of glassblowing, Lino Tagliapietra was instrumental in promoting the early Studio Glass movement in the Pacific Northwest. In 1979, he first came to Pilchuck Glass School and shared with American glassmakers his vast knowledge gained from years of work in the Murano glass community. This act began a chain reaction of shared knowledge that universally elevated the art and craft of glassmaking and changed the course of contemporary glass. Now age 78, Tagliapietra’s artistic mastery and vision continue to influence Studio Glass artists around the world. The 2008 Museum of Glass-organized exhibition, Lino Tagliapietra in Retrospect: A Modern Renaissance in Italian Glass, was the first comprehensive examination of the artist’s work. www.linotagliapietra.com.
