Out on Gig Harbor Bay, Tom Drohan takes the wheel of his restored U.S. Navy boat multiple times a day. Tucked inside, away from the spray of the waves against the boat, passengers listen to him talk about the history of the surrounding shorelines and waters.

During a sunny August tour, Dick Hartley, an engineer who was visiting from Denver, marveled at the stunning views of the Tacoma Narrows bridges, Mount Rainier and surrounding beaches. Harley and his wife grew up with boating, making Drohan’s tour an ideal getaway.
