Art + Cultural Walking Tour of Historical
Downtown Tacoma
The TacomaVisitorInformationCenter
[VIC] offers walking tours of downtown Tacoma highlighting the history, art and
culture of Tacoma.
Led by trained VIC volunteers, the tours feature
fascinating cultural, historical and architectural details about the downtown
core between the Museum District and Theater District.
For example, those ten ethnic masks on buildings along Broadway have a story to tell – participants
learn about them and many other pieces of public art during the tour. They also
discover the stories behind many of Tacoma's
architecturally significant buildings and historical sites.
The Art + Cultural Walking Tour of Historical
Downtown Tacoma departs from the VisitorInformationCenter
located at 1516 Pacific Ave.
[in the Courtyard by Marriott]. The walking tour covers approximately two miles
and takes about two hours at a casual pace up and down gentle slopes. Good
walking shoes are recommended. A $10 donation is requested.
