5 Things to Do This Weekend (Holiday Edition): Dec. 8-10, 2017

As we continue the countdown to Dec. 25, the season is lighting up with holiday events that can bring families closer together, or sometimes even stand in place of a gift for a hard-to-shop-for person. We've compiled a comprehensive list below, but here are the five events Travel Tacoma + Pierce County recommends for this weekend:

  1. Light Up the Night: 4th Annual St. Lucia Festival (Friday, Dec. 8; Harbor History Museum, Gig Harbor) - Celebrate Gig Harbor’s Scandinavian heritage at Harbor History Museum’s 4th Annual Light Up the Night festivities on Dec. 8 from 5 - 6:30 p.m. Crafts, games, and traditional Scandinavian snacks are the star at this family-friendly event.
  2. Annual Downtown Holiday Haul Crawl (Saturday, Dec. 9; Pacific Avenue, Tacoma) - Dozens of stores along historic Pacific Avenue are offering discounts, and individual Tacoma makers are setting up shop at a pop-up mall in the hallway next to Satori. Come get your shopping done and enjoy the festive atmosphere!
  3. Santa at America’s Car Museum (Saturday, Dec. 9; LeMay – America’s Car Museum, Tacoma) - You've seen Santa at a mall, but have you seen him in a 1906 Cadillac? This year's Santa pics are definitely going to win the social media envy wars.
  4. Seattle Men’s Chorus: A Sassy, Brassy Holiday (Saturday, Dec. 9; Rialto Theater, Tacoma) - It’s not the holidays in Tacoma without the most welcoming celebration of the season – this time, infused with the color and warmth of brass! Featuring beloved carols, classic seasonal anthems, and down and dirty New Orleans-style arrangements of your holiday favorites.
  5. White Christmas Sing-Along (Sunday, Dec. 10; The Grand Cinema, Tacoma) - Bring out your inner Bing! Tacoma-native Bing Crosby is on the screen, but the fun is in the theater as the crowd croons along with this Christmas favorite.
