Get outside! Family-friendly activities

When the sun shines in Tacoma + Pierce County, we certainly know how to enjoy it. Warm summer days are that much sweeter knowing that cool, crisp nights will eventually return.

Head to one of Metro Parks Tacoma's many parks - whether you find yourself kayaking at Owen Beach on the shores of Puget Sound or winding down the lazy river and splashing in the spray park at Stewart Heights Pool.

For an animal adventure, gaze at elk, buffalo and longhorn sheep at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park as they free-roam in their natural habitat. Kids can get up-close to beavers, ducks and bats during educational sessions with animal experts.

Thinking about heading to the mountains this summer? You'll find an amazing assortment of activities, ranging from camping, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding and swimming in and around Mount Rainier National Park.

What to do this weekend: 1/20 - 1/22

Happy Friday, Pierce County!

This time of year one of my favorite things to do is try something new and creative. The cloudy skies make being inside so appealing, but I don't want to just sit around indoors all weekend! Luckily, scattered throughout Pierce County there are plenty of creative enterprises who can help artistically challenged individuals like myself create something to display in my home, drink my morning coffee out of, or even give as a gift to a friend with an upcoming birthday!
