glass roots 2011
The TRCVB and participating members wrapped-up its third year of Glass Roots, a county-wide initiative designed to educate meeting planners about Tacoma + Pierce County as a great meetings + events destination.

This year, we hosted four luncheons in four cities. We decided to go to meeting planners this year to make it convenient for them to learn about our destination. The luncheons took place in Tacoma, Olympia, South Seattle and Portland.

We met with a total of 45 meeting planners, generated a lot of interest in Tacoma + Pierce County and collected eight RFPs. Combined, these RFPs have a potential economic impact of $895,520.

In addition to a destination presentation, guest speaker, Lynn Edwards, CMP with Proper Planning led each interactive discussion. We asked planners what their issues + hot topics were and what keeps them up at night, then shared ideas and solutions.

Our goal was to position the Pierce County hospitality community as an expert in the industry and a valuable resource to planners. According to post-event surveys: mission accomplished!
