Our agriculture adventure begins at Wilcox Farms who sustainably raise chickens for a variety of farm fresh eggs. The 100 year-old-farm is nestled near the Nisqually River and sits in the shadow of Mount Rainier. You will enjoy touring this farm which has been a staple in the sustainable food movement.
Next we head to Cheryl the Pig Lady and Friends at her 54-acre farm tucked in the Orting Valley. Here, we will taste her naturally grown products on her free range farm. Delight in delectable, locally grown and raised meats such as cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks and turkeys.
Our last farm stop of the day is Terry’s Berries who grow certified organic produce such as berries and veggies. Learn about owners Terry and Dick’s passion for bridging the gap between the consumer and the farmer while we feed chickens and sample locally grown food.
We will end the day in the quaint town of Sumner at the whimsical Windmill Bistro surrounded by gardens and a local nursery. Sumner is the rhubarb pie capital of the world with a rich history in agriculture and rhubarb. We will learn about the agricultural roots of Sumner and dine on some delicious rhubarb dessert.
